QB Schaub will earn $10 million more for the next three years

The Houston Texans think their quarterback Matt Schaub has done good enough job to earn more money and the team plans to exercise an option in Schaub’s contract that will give him a $10 million bonus and extend his contract for the next three years.

Wearing the Atlanta Falcons jersey during his first three seasons Schaub signed a six-year contract three seasons ago with the Texans, who had until March to decide if they wanted to exercise the option to keep him in Houston. According to Texans owner Bob McNair, the team plans to do that because Schaub has given good performance this year.

The good performance includes leading the league in yards passing with a franchise-best 4,770 yards and leading the Texans to its first winning record with a victory over New England Patriots on Sunday, although they still lost the chance to enter playoffs with New York Jets’ 37-0 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
