Currently jobless offensive tackle Willie Anderson recently made an odd appearance in Brett Favre jersey and told reporters that he wanted to play again but did not expect his former team, the Cincinnati Bengals would re-sign him even though he played for a dozen seasons with them.
"I don’t know," Anderson told the Cincinnati Enquirer. "I don’t think they want me back but they don’t necessarily need me back. They continue to build for the future and most times teams that are in contention do not add a veteran unless there is a serious need.”
Anderson also admitted that he had talked with Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis with hopes of a reunion. Apparently the discussion did not end with a promising indication, and Anderson said that he was expecting to attract interests from other teams, like the Minnesota Vikings or Indianapolis Colts. The 35-year-old tackle could not manage to receive offers from other teams until July or August, when most teams run out of their options on unrestricted free agents and turn their eyes on players outside the league.
