With a bruised bone and a sprained right knee, the Arizona Cardinals All-Pro Wide Receiver Larry Fitzgerald probably will miss this Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, and the team said an MRI on Tuesday determined the extent of the injury but showed no more significant damage.
Fitzgerald was hurt on the third play of the third quarter of Monday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers when a safety in 49ers jersey landed on his leg on a deep pass attempt. Fitzgerald was helped off the field, and then went to the locker room. He returned to the game with 3:23 to play.
Other injured Cardinals players include safety Matt Ware, who did not have a torn ACL as was initially feared but it was uncertain how much damage he had in the knee and when he might return, kicker Neil Rackers, who aggravated a nagging groin injury, and offensive tackle Mike Gandy, who continued to have problems with a pelvic injury.
