Having suffered at least one ligament tear in the knee, the Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith has to undergo surgery on his left knee and is not going to wear back his Lions jersey for the remaining games of this season, as the Lions confirmed on Monday.
Backup Maurice Morris will take over Smith’s starting job for the final three games. Although Morris isn’t a home-run threat, he had decent speed and the explosion to be a good inside runner and to get through the hole, which means there may be roster moves to the Lions after they lost last week’s game to the Baltimore Ravens 48-3.
However, Lions Coach Jim Schwartz claimed Monday that no moves are imminent. He only admitted that the team could make some different decisions on starters as they have already done during the whole season as adjustments for bigger winning chance.
