Vick wants to be released by Eagles for staring job

After spending one season with the Philadelphia Eagles, quarterback Michael Vick started feeling dissatisfied with his backup role in the Eagles. Especially after the team made it clear earlier that they still wanted Donovan McNabb back with the Eagles. It seems that Vick will take off the Eagles jersey in near future.

Vick told reporters that he wants to be a starter next season and his agent has been talking with the Eagles about releasing him from the second year of his contract.

"(My agent) is just trying to get an understanding on what we thought was the best-case scenario and how we should approach the situation in regards to being respectful," Vick said. "We thought that was important. We didn't put a timetable on it but it should happen pretty soon. So, we'll see."

By so far, the clearest comment from the Eagles about Vick’s future was what Eagles head coach Andy Reid told reporters last week. Reid said the Eagles would trade 29-year-old Vick before the 2010 draft in April. Well, it appears that the Eagles have no intension to keep the quarterback, let alone giving him starting job.
